Annual Report 2024

The year 2024 has marked great achievements for the Albanian Mixed Martial Arts Federation (ALBMMAF), with successful efforts in the development of the sport and important collaborations to guarantee the growth of MMA in Albania and its international recognition.

One of the major developments has been the unification of MMA disciplines, with Emerson moving from the Albanian Freestyle Fighting Federation to the Albanian Mixed Martial Arts Federation (ALBMMAF). This unification has created a stronger and more organized structure for athletes and trainers in Albania.

We have also taken an important step in adapting the Federation Statute to the New Sports Law, ensuring compliance with the legal framework and increasing transparency and professionalism in the management of MMA.

This report was approved by the Board of Directors, including members Renato Veizaj and Gezim Hadribeaj, who played a key role in this process.

1. Strategic Collaborations

1.1 Ministry of Education and Sports (MES)

• In 2025, the Federation began collaborating with MAS to integrate MMA as a recognized sport and support national and international activities.
• The objective for 2025 is to apply and support MMA with the Annual Fund for our activities and for youth, as well as create opportunities for advanced athletes with international participation.

1.2 Albanian National Olympic Committee (KOKSH)

• KOKSH has provided support for the growth of the Federation's structures and the international recognition of MMA in Albania.
• The goal for 2025 is to strengthen cooperation to ensure the inclusion of MMA in official international events.

1.3 Municipality of Tirana

• The Municipality of Tirana has provided space and infrastructure for the development of training and sporting events, helping to promote MMA and involve young people in the sport.
• We have received support for the organization of two major national championships.

2. Main Events of 2024

2.1 AFC 10

• One of the largest MMA events in Albania, with participation from five countries.
• This event has strengthened the reputation of Albanian MMA in the region.

2.2 National Championship and Nationwide Championship (August 2024)

• Both of these events were organized with a wide participation and high level of competition.
• The winning athletes have qualified for international events.

2.3 National Cup (December 2024)

• One of the most important events of the year, with a high level of preparation and organization.
• The event has helped identify new talents.

3. Achievements of Albanian Athletes

• Elez Guri placed 10th in the World Championship and won the Italian Championship.
• He is ready for international representation at the next European and World Championships.
• The objective for 2025 is to increase Albania's participation in international events and better prepare elite athletes.

4. Support and Increase Participation

• Over 3,000 young people have participated in training organized by the Federation over the course of a year by the Main Academies.
• 40 young talents have been identified, who will be supported with intensive training and preparation for international events.
• The federation aims to increase women's representation in sports by 30% by 2025.

5. Establishment of the Judges Structure and IMMAF Regulations

• Implementation of IMMAF regulations to ensure the safety and protection of athletes.
• Training new judges to follow international standards.
• The objective for 2025 is to increase the number of certified judges in Albania.

6. Objectives for 2025

• Strengthening cooperation with state and international institutions to provide more financial and infrastructural support.
• Developing training camps for top athletes and increasing representation in international events.
• Increasing the participation of women and girls in MMA, creating equal opportunities in the sport.
• Providing funding and sponsorships to guarantee the stability and long-term development of the Federation.

One of the most important steps has been the unification of MMA disciplines, moving from the Albanian Freestyle Fighting Federation to the Albanian Mixed Martial Arts Federation (ALBMMAF). This process has provided a more stable structure, increasing the quality and standards of the sport for all athletes and coaches in the country.

With commitment and cooperation, we will continue to develop MMA in Albania and Kosovo, creating better opportunities for our athletes and laying the foundation for a bright future for this sport.
